It seems that over 50% of Hampshire families who could be benefitting from it haven’t – and one conversation with you could make a real difference to a family’s health and future.

A snapshot of Healthy Start

Healthy Start helps families (with one or more children under the age of 4) and those who are more than 10 weeks pregnant to access healthy food, milk and vitamins using a prepaid card which gets topped up every 4 weeks.

How can you help?

Public Health would like every staff member and volunteer in Hampshire who supports low-income families with children under the age of 4 to know what the scheme is, how it works and how you can help champion it.

Barnardo’s is working in partnership with Hampshire County Council to offer free 30-minute training sessions to give you the knowledge, tools and confidence to talk about Healthy Start.

It covers:

  • what Healthy Start offers

  • the application process

  • who is eligible

  • how to start a conversation with a family who may benefit from Healthy Start

  • and we share resources that you can use to promote scheme.

  •

Sessions will be held online.

Click here to sign up to a session or submit a registration of interest form if you’re unable to make these and we will send you new dates as they are released.
